Spring 2025
Hello friends, I’m happy to be here with updates on what’s happening with me this spring. It’s an exciting time, because IF A BUMBLEBEE LANDS ON YOUR TOE, my debut picture book, is buzzing into stores near the end of May. Here’s the initial interior spread!
My pre-launch at the Faerie and Fantasy Faire at Mary Winspear was an incredible event that surpassed my expectations in many ways. I had a chance to share the book in public for the first time with a sweet group of children dressed as fairies for the event. And I spoke to so many people who truly appreciated the beauty in both words and illustrations.
Coming May 31st, I’ll be at Indigo Books, Mayfair Mall for a book signing and I hope I’ll see you there. Some book signings can be pretty quiet, even for a well-known author, so I’d love if you come by and say hello if you’re in Victoria.
Here’s another gorgeous spread from the interior. I love the way Vikki’s illustrations encourage readers to pause and notice details.
And also for Victoria, B.C. families, I have two special dates booked at Horticulture Centre for the Pacific - Sunday, June 22 is pollinator day and I’ll be doing a story time/reading along with a Q and A for young people interested in writing. I’ll also be at the Arts and Music Festival early in August.

News on Butterfly Sea, which is coming with Tielmour Press: I have seen some of Marie-Laure’s illustration work and she has a beautiful style, quite different from Vikki Zhang, illustrator of IF A BUMBLEBEE LANDS ON YOUR TOE.
Marie-Laure, from Quebec, is similar in style to Sydney Smith, who illustrated SMALL IN THE CITY and I TALK LIKE A RIVER, two books I reccomend.
